I just went to the dentist, and I got a credit card receipt. I did not
get an itemized list of what exactly was charged for what. The front
desk clerk said it was figured if my insurance did not cover the rest I
would get a bill from them? Is it standard practice to give the
patient an itemized list of what was done and the associated cost in
addition to the regular credit receipt? I just want to make sure if
there are any problems with the claim I will have that information.
Thanks for any help.

There is no reason IMO for the dental office to not give you an
itemized bill or copy of the claim on request.
Many of our patients have dental insurance with which we participate
and accept assignment (the insurance company pays us) so I wouldn't say
it's routine, but it's easy enough to do and I'd do it if requested.
