About 5 years ago I had a back tooth taken out and just have a gap
there, which suprisingly hasn't bothered me that much.

About 2 weeks ago when brushing my teeth I noticed the area around the
gum had a bit of a bump on it so I pushed the bump lightly and yellow
pus came flowing out. It seems that this is cyclis, the area fills up
with pus again and the next day I push it all out again.

Does anyone know what this is, and how long this will go on for? The
bump isn't red and inflamed so doesn't hurt and I don't feel at all
sick or feverish; therefore I don't believe it to be an abcess.

You don't need to feel sick or feverish for this to be an abscess,
which is what you seem to be accurately describing.  What I can't say is
why you have an abscess--you should be checked by your dentist.

My guess: There's a root still in there

Could you just live with this problem if you wanted to?

Good luck!

You could ... it would eventually exfoliate (come out by itself)
