I have an 11 YO daughter who needs braces. Primarily an overbite.  One ortho
wants to use a herbst device to move the lower jaw forward.. another says
not to use such a device because it puts too much stress on the joint.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thank you, Ken

Depending on the amount of overbite, the Herbst is a good method to
help correct her problem.  The Herbst actually moves the lower jaw
forward and puts tension on the complex. Not pressure, it allows some
dental changes and some joint changes, her age is critical for this
change to occure.  I believe the herbst will do good for your daughter.
