Hey everyone,
I am probably making a big deal about nothing, but I wanted to post
my issue here on the group before going to the dentist, if need be.

I was brushing my teeth about 5-7 days ago and lost traction of my
toothbrush and ended up cutting a small area on my gum just below my
lower left Canine tooth. The cut is a little less than 1/3 of an inch
and is a white area. It looks like a canker sore, sans the red border.

Is there something I can purchase at a drug store that can help heal
the laceration? Everytime I eat or drink, I get a severe burning
sensation from the injury.

Thanks for any advice on the best method to get this thing healed.

Try Orabase--sticky intraoral bandage, will protect it while eating.
Zilactin is another choice.  Non-prescription.

Sometimes it heals faster if you put some spit
on it ....... you know natural antibiotics and all ...

Hehe, true. I've already waited a couple of days and I noticed that it
did not change any. So, I went out and bought some of that oralbase
that was suggested. So far working wonders. Thanks!

That's surprising!  Generally mouth lesions heal up VERY quickly, and if
it's still there after a couple of days and not getting ANY better, I wonder
if there's more to this than you originally thought.  Of course the healing
rate is affected by your age/general health.  Are you diabetic?  What's your
age?

Hi Jacob,
Well, I think it's getting a little better now. I don't know why it's
taking so long. I think I could see the bone through the skin, but it's
a white area. Still burns when I eat, but it appears to be healing a
bit better now.

My health/age: I am 25, not diabetic, fit...170lb...5' 10" clean diet,
etc.

Is the area healed up completely now?  It should be.  If not, you should see
a dentist.
