I had an implant done on my lower left jaw 19 days ago.  The dentist
stated that everything went very smoothly and I felt fine.  The
following morning I got up and exercised vigorously.  Little did I know
what a mistake this was.  The area around the implant swelled quite a
bit.  It was Friday and I was going out of town for three days.  By
Saturday morning I was in significant pain but taking 800mg doses of
Advil to mask the symptoms.  I went back to the dentist on Tuesday.  He
told me I was crazy for having exercised but the damage was done.  I
was told the tissue had blanched and they swabbed an iodine solution to
the area almost daily for a week.   No relief from the pain but the
tissue looked better.  I have been on several antibiotics (currently
clindamycin) .  On the 15th day I went to a periodontist and he found
no bad teeth.  It is now 19 days since the implant and I basically have
as much pain as I did on the 3rd day.  I feel as if I have an abcessed
tooth.

Any ideas?

I'm curious: did the dentist tell you to rest and not to do any major
physical activity after the surgery?

Did they give you any post-surgery instructions?
