Hi, my implant surgery (1st of two) is this coming Friday. I am having
2 implants in my lower left (which will bridge one crown in between),
and one in my lower right.

Then, in 2 weeks, I'll be getting 2 more implants on the upper right,
which will also involve getting a sinus lift which the surgeon
describes as "lateral, crestal, with osteotones (sp?)".

I read somewhere on the net that one should make sure one's sinuses
are "under control" at the time of the sinus lift. I assume this means
that my nose should not be runny or stuffy, etc.. Right?

Well, right now my sinuses are out of control. They are alternately
runny and stuffy and I have a cold along with it, and I am starting
back on a corticosteroid nasal spray today, (generic Flonase) to see
if I can get them back under control asap.

My question is: How important is this for my first LOWER surgeries,
this Friday? I would assume it should not matter too much for these,
that it only really matters for my upper surgery with the sinus lift.
Is that correct?

Also, what exactly is the danger wtih not having the sinuses "under
control" when the sinus lift is done?

And can anyone refer me to a good explanation (maybe a link with
drawings) of what this type of a sinus lift is? I will be scanning
google for it, but one never knows, sometimes, which of the 100 or so
links one might get, which one is accurate and useful...
