Forget about the Whitelight device - no way am I going to put that in my
mouth unless under professional supervision.

That said, what is the best over the counter product for whitening teeth?
I've heard the paint ons like Night Effects are worthless.  Is Crest White
Strips the best?  How about Rembrandt's product?  Does it matter if you buy
the CVS or Rite-Aid brand?

Does anyone still use those systems with the melted piece of plastic that
fits in your mouth, and the syringes of gel?

They all have the same active ingredient.  In my office we make custom
trays for use of bleaching materials overnight.  Trays you heat up
yourself don't fit well enough to keep the bleach where you want it.
The big problem with store-bought bleaches is they aren't very stable
chemically and should be bought fresh.  I think things like the White
Strips should definitely be bought with a "use by" date.  If it's old,
it probably won't do a thing.

Dr. Bornfeld, I had one of those moulds made by a dentist, and I used
it religiously... for about 2 weeks, as I recall, at which point I was
supposed to increase the amount or strength of gel, something like
that, I forget, it was a few years ago.

At that point it started really HURTING. In spite of the pain I used
it another night. Woke up the next day with my teeth hurting like
hell. The pain lasted about 2-3 days as I recall.

Is this common? Can some people just not withstand this process? I
really want to whiten my teeth, but I could not bear the pain of that.
Is there another way I can go? I still have the mould and the gel...
