Is it possible to get post nasal drip after root canal work.

Could there be an allergy connection between the material used in the
RC and the patient.

I have read some stories on the internet that Root Canal work can be
responsible for a wide variety or complaints, is any of this true or
is it anecdotal?

Hope you can help

The chances are remote.  You'd have to go through the tip of the root,
through the floor of the sinus and the sinus membrane.
Generally, root canal filling materials are well-tolerated.  Of course
there is the potential of sensitivity to anything; still, any
sensitivity reaction would be local (in the tissue contacting the
filling--the filling would have to be overextended into the tissues) and
not remote, unless the filling was physically in the sinus or nasal cavity.

If you're allergtic to latex, you could also be sensitised to the
guttapercha points used to fill the canals. That reaction would tend to
be local. It's hard to see how it can cause post-nasal drip.
Which was the tooth that had the root canal?

This is purely anecdotal and mostly coming from "quack" websites.

The tooth is on the bottom right of the mouth. My wife complains of a
lot of excess mucus in the throat with the ENT had attributed to
Rhinitis and some kind of allergy, but so far the allergy testing has
come up with nothing.

I thought as much. But it was a bit suspicious that my wife only
started to get this mucus in the throat shortly after the RC work.
Probably coincidence I know.

Thank you for your comments.
