Thank you for your reply,
I did have the oral surgeon take a look at it maybe 2 weeks ago (so I
am re-evaluating and I think I might be at 4 weeks post op). He seemed
to think the pain was due to debris because I wasn't washing my sockets
out very well at that time. He said it looked fine. The ache is sort of
deep in my jaw like a tooth ache and related to opening and closing my
mouth, so maybe it has to do with the joint. (I always had some
problems with this sort of thing).
Do you still think I should go back again to the oral surgeon? (they
seemed annyoed previously!)

Surgeons actually have to act annoyed--it's in the rule book!
I'd say that if you think the pain is diminishing (even slowly) you're
probably OK. But if you have any further swelling, drainage, or
increased pain, call them anyway. If they act annoyed, too bad! If you
were referred to the surgeon by the general dentist, he/she will be
interested in reports of poor behavior by specialists offices. I know I
would be!
