Hi,
I had apico done my #19 tooth about 6 six weeks ago. The pain and the
soreness on the jaw have started to lessen as time goes on. However, I
felt some tingering pain on the tooth a couple of times a day. This
weeke, I started to experience deep pain on the jaw or inside the tooth
(when I touch the tooth, it is not particularly painful). The pain gets
worse at night. Sometimes, it last 5 minutes and it goes away, but
sometime it lasts longer and I have to take Combunox to quiet it down
(Vicodin does not work). Can someone suggest what could be the reason
for this? Should I go back to see the surgeon or my dentist? I am sort
of afraid to see anyone about it at this point. I have already had 2
root canals and 1 apico done on this tooth :(
Thank you.

apico #19 is a very uncommon place to do apico due to anatomical
difficulties.
most endodontists avoid these teeth.
They would rather do retreatment 1st and if that did not work, very few
may attempt extraction of the tooth apico outside the mouth and then
reimplantation of the tooth. But usually if the retreatment does not
help they would just extract and place an Implant.
This could be another tooth, the treated tooth, some other unrelated
problem, or healing of the surgical site. I would have it looked at
again.
