I am an avid Listerine user.  Recently I ran out and decided to giv
Crest Pro Health rinse a chance.  The first few days I had n
complaints.  On the 3rd or 4th day, I noticed some stinging on m
tounge.  By the 5th day, there was a good amount of sting even after
was finished rinsing.  I would rinse my mouth with water after but i
did little to stop the sting.  I then developed a cut/sore under m
tounge.  At this point, I immediately stopped using the Crest and wen
back to Listerine.  4 days later now, everything is back to normal.
am wondering if there are any known side effects to using the Cres
product.  It seems like it was eating at my mouth!  Thanks

It is possible to have a sensitivity reaction to anything.  Some of my
patients get similar reactions to Listerine--or just about any other
mouthwash you can name.
In general, less alcohol will be less irritating.

YMMV,

Couple of weeks ago I decided to try Crest ProHealth toothpaste. I found
it weird, kinda liquidy paste. After I started using it I was suddenly
plagued with a sloughing of the inside of my lips. It was very annoying,
at work I would find myself pealing off this white layer of what I'm
figuring was dead skin from the inside of my mouth. Very embarrassing
when you work retail. It took my a few days to connect it to the
toothpaste so I stopped using it and the problem stopped. The other day
I decided to chance it again to make sure it was that and not a
coincidence and sure enough it happened again.
Needless to say no longer using that toothpaste.
I have and will still use other Crest products.

Well, that's pretty compelling evidence of a sensitivity.  I don't know
what ingredients are in that which are new, but I'd encourage you to
contact P&G and tell them about your reaction.  Doctors are encouraged
to report adverse reactions to the FDA for prescription drugs, but I'm
not aware that there is any reporting authority for toothpastes or other
OTC products.  In any case, if they get a slew of reports they may alter
the formulation or withdraw the product.

I did send an email on the ProHealth site and got an acknowledgement
email so someone there got it.
