Currently I have a nagging and debilitating gum ache which has been
plaging me for a few days now and it keeps shifting around and is really
playing havoc with my sleep.   I've scheduled to see the dentist in 3
days but is there anything that can done to allievate the extreme pain?

Remedies that I've tried to kill the excruciating pain are...
1) gargling with salt water,
2) Taking a course of Ibuprofen
3) Dabbing "Oralbase" Oral gel on suspected areas.

But none of those have helped in alleviating the pain in anyway.

The pain all happens on the right side of my mouth.  What is even more
strange is that the pain just keeps shifting around, sometimes it amongst
the top teeth, sometimes it's at the bottom and I can't pin point which
teeth (if any) is actually causing the pain.  I can't see any swelling,
and there is normally no bleeding when I brush or floss, although I have
jabbed at a few places with my floss in a frustrated and Futile attempt to
attack the pain.  However, Hot and cold foods do make the pain (short
sharp shock) even more excruciating at the point where the pain is
Currently located.

This episode of pain has already happened about 3 times like clock work in
the past 4 month and it just keeps getting worse and more excruciating
each time, but once it fades away, it's like nothing had ever happened,
there is no pain what so ever, the sensitivity to cold and hot is gone
until it flares up again.

As I've stated near the start of this post, I've scheduled to see the
dentist and will try and diagnose it then, but is there anything what so
ever that can be done to allivate the pain in the meantime?

Thanks.

Nevermind.  Apparently it was some tartar build up causing all the havoc.
The dentist cleaned around the gum line to see if it would alleviate the
irritation and it appears that it did the trick.
