Does he do stock tips too? Or is his future vision confined to teeth?

If there is a cosmetic problem--erosion, abfraction, etc.--perhaps. It
will not prevent future decay. Proper diet and oral hygiene will
prevent decay though.

If the restoration is properly finished and above the gumline, no. If
it is below the gumline or not properly finished, yes.

As much as I appreciate this train of thought (you need to place two
fillings to restore one cavity), it's a bit silly. If the surface
between the teeth is accessible it makes sense. But removing an
otherwise good filling to provide direct access to a decayed area
carries a significant risk to the otherwise healthy tooth being drilled
for access. While it is conceivable that this could be a good idea in
some circumstances, I can't think of a circumstance that I would do this.
