• Yanni was arrested at his Florida home early Friday after an allege
domestic dispute with his girlfriend, Silvia Barthes.
He faces a domestic battery charge, according to police.
Yanni denied the allegations."These allegations are cruel, false
without merit and baseless," said the statement released by hi
manager, Danny O'Donovan. "At a more appropriate time and place, I hop
and pray I will have an opportunity to address my fans and colleague
all overthe world."

I think that sci.med.dentistry is a spot on the internet where a
community of people meet for various opinions. We laugh, we joke, we
offer some good advice and we fulfill an important mission.

My rant about turning off "Yanni at the Acropolis" could not be taken
as serious dental advice either, could it? I guess that is negative,
especially if you are Yanni.

Negativity? Do you advocate censoring everything that is not positive

That's how the NASDAQ went into free-fall last Friday. Too many peopl

quashing the negativizers. I always ask my friends, "So how does this
company propose to actually make money?"

Its this.

Basically, a discussion of the relative benefits of PerioChip versus
Periostat are pretty boring, unless it is your own question and your
own infrabony pocket, whatever the heck that is.

Same for oral surgery, amalgams, and yes, orthodontics. Not exactly
riveting subjects!

Sometimes we need some filler to liven things up. Who really minds?

You know, we only have 20-80 new posts in a day, and quite honestly,
most do not get the juices flowing. So what is the harm?

There is no usenet rule that says you have to read every single post.
If any bore you, well, just stop reading!

Too simple, eh?

Cheers,

Joel

Joel,

I made a single posting in response to your  original posting about the
syringe
wielding doc.  There were 6 responses, five of which came from you over
a span
of 37 minutes.

This helps to explain the dental world to that first year dental
student who is
worried that he is not entering the right profession.  I think all who
inhabit
this area need to understand that we are not normal.

We?  We are not normal?????  Speak for yourself, Charlie.

Why do you care how many posts Joel or anyone else puts up in 37
minutes????  I think you're right, it is not normal to concern
yourself so much with the way someone else spends his time.  You could

put up 200 posts in 15 minutes, Charlie, and it wouldn't bother me in
the slightest.  So once again, I guess you're right... that is not
normal for the people who see it as you do.

So... you must be right.  We are not normal.  I know I'm not... but I
wasn't so sure about all the others until I thought about it for a
minute.

Now... how many posts do you think I can put up in 37 minutes?  (I can

guess your answer in one word -- "none") -- maybe you have a different

reply.

Gosh Charlie. I do not have the rule book in front of me. Was that too

many replies or too much time?

No it isn't. This is an ad hominem argument from you against me. The
reason that this "negativity" offends you, I am not sure. What
business you have trying to censoring others, I am not sure about
either.

By the way, I did other things in that 37 minutes too. I just thought
that several points needed to be made about the electronic community.

If any first year student reads this and thinks, "Oh my gosh, I better

not go into dentistry. I will have to post replies to Eichen at
sci.med.dentistry for the next 20 years," then perhaps you are right.

Usenet is not for the faint-of-heart, nor is it for the rude! By the
way, people who are interested in debate, should take the full 37
minutes to think things through a bit before replying.

Cheers,

Joel

Wait a minute, Sabra. I just checked the rule book. If someone makes

posts, they must be made in 36 minutes or less, or the entire content

of the posts are considered balderdash. I di not know that, so I must
apologize to Charlie for taking 37 minutes.

I am also cooking some broccoli with cheese, but I neglected to
mention that to Charlie. This is because if I sent him some, it would
be limp by the time it got there.

Sabra. There is a new contest program on TV. It features Regis
Philbin. The contestants must compete to put up as many posts as
possible within 37 minutes.

Hey Joel, I've been looking and looking for a copy of "that rule
book".  But I thought it didn't exist!  So I've been disregarding some

posted speedposting limits (too fast... too slow) and that's why I'm
always in trouble....... now I see........... well, I better study
that book!

Yes, I'd like to see what Charlie would put up!  I would be very
interested!!

It's amazing that I even know what this Regis "is that your final"
stuff is all about.  You don't have to watch TV to "hear" about it....

I hear it everywhere!!  Now, I must admit, that could be a show I'd
like to watch on television, Joel.  Wow....... that could be really
fun and I would be able to say that I *watch* "Is that your final
post?"  --- I could be like normal-people!!!

I'm sure he's does a great job with orthodontics ... but you know,
anyone who "doesn't read Webby much" (he wrote this once so I remember

it well) wouldn't be one I'd want on my debate team either!  Besides,
*we* sent him a complimentary copy of "the book" (the one that is sort

of like the posting-rule book -- but not quite the same thing)
thinking that he might really care enough about the "situation" to
want to read the book... but he refused to read it last I heard..
well, he thought he might read it over the Christmas holidays one
year... I think that was Christmas 1997... but I don't think he
did....

Okay, I'm going to stop picking on Charlie in front of everyone...
everyone except him because he doesn't see me!! ;-)

I like my broccoli very well done... it's the only way a Webby can eat

it!... can you send me some with cheese???

And thanks to you too! Charlie is a good guy, but he may not realize
that one of our responsibilities here is to get some interest going so

that people who visit are not disappointed.

How to accomplish it? I do not know.

But as a feeble attempt, I often post "News of the Weird type."

If anybody takes offense, sorry.

I guess that Charlie did not mean to open a can-o-worms, but how do we

get the Genie back in the bottle? I guess we just go on . . . just
like life!

Let's not dwell on it. Let's move forward!

Cheers,

Joel
