I went to my orthodonist a week ago. I have had my braces off for about
sixth months now. I was able to switch to wearing my retainers
exclusively at night within three. My teeth were perfectly straight
when I got them off and haven't changed much. I basically had a perfect
check up until he refered me to an oral surgeon. I found out that I
would have to get my wisdom teeth pulled this summer. I'm thirteen! My
sister is sixteen and will eventually get them pulled but has not yet.
My dad was eighteen and my mom was twenty-four! I expected to have to
get them out but not at this age! So for those of you have recently
gotten it done... how bad does it hurt (cringe)?

I would get a second opinion here ....... or I would study
less at school as you are way too wise for your years.

As an orthodontist, I commonly recommend wisdome teeth extraction, it
all depends on the patient's orthodontic treament, and amount of room
available for the teeth to come in.  I do agree that 13 is a tad bit
early for extraction, and I would like to see the Pan, but for examle
if the ortho tx distalized molars, and the growth pattern of the jaws
is not favorable there is a Super high chance that they need to come
out.
Who knows, perhaps, the 3rds, in this caes are causing some
pathological problem, like reabsorbing the 2nd molar roots.
Anyway, would be nice to see the Pan and intraorals, and growth xrays,
etc. Sorry Duckiedarling, there is just not enough info for me to help
specifically.
