Hi,
I'm looking to replace my old ultracam IO cameras with a system connected to
my computers.
i've tested half a dozen IO cams in the last month and narrowed down my
choice to 2 cameras:
- accucam concept IV (fire-wire) from gendex. Pros: best image quality.
Cons: fiber optic in cord, foot pedal.
- and Digital Doc (USB). Pros: button on handpiece , no fiberoptics.
Cons: not quite as good an image,
As for software, accucam comes with Vixwin pro and digital doc comes with
Adstra.
If you have any experience with any of those products, could you give me
your feedback please?

I recently setup a new accucam and it was very nice. Though it came wit
vixwin, we got it to work with Dentrix Image
There are some disadvantages to this. For one, the accucam has
feature that when you lift it from the cradle, the image automaticall
appears on the computer monitor, regardless if vixwin is open or not
BUT, this program must be closed and not ran at boot time, otherwise n
other imaging program besides vixwin can connect to it (so fa
anyways).. so if you want to use it with something other then vixwin
this must be turned off
Second is the foot pedals that comes with the accucam. They only wor
with vixwin too it seems. We still had to use our older dentrix imag
foot pedals.
Not that I'm a big fan of Dentrix Image, or anything else.. But thi
has been my experiece so far with the new accucam... Oh yeah! Awesom
image quality, thats for sure
