Hi

I am on vacation (out of state)and lost a tooth that had fractured.
The dentist locally was willing to put in a bridge in 15 days and
indicated that it should be one soon since I could have bone problems
in the the extracted area.

I called my hometown dentist and he indicated that he waits around 4
months for the extracted bone to settle before he does the bridge
work.

What is the real story?

thanks

The modern practice of dentistry has advanced beyond the point where a
bridge is automatically the best way to restore a missing tooth.

Modern implants actually help preserve the bone instead of letting it
melt away, and an implant does not require crowning two other teeth, as
a bridge would.

Before you make your decision, take the time to look into the
differences between implants and bridges. The individual circumstances
of the case often point to one or the other as a better way to restore
the missing tooth. On the internet, we can't tell which is better in
your particular case.

Best regards,

Bill

I plan to see my dentist back home and he will look and recommend what
procedure would be best.

Thanks
Dave
