Alernatives to Bridge

My dentist recently told me he was going to have to extract my tooth (bottom
left).  He said I would have to get a brigde.  I would get a crown to fill in
the gap, but that he would have to file down the teeth next to it in so that
the bridge could be permanently attached.  This doesn't sound good at all, if
I ever decide to get my teeth whitened, the bridge would stay the same color.
I am only 21 and am planning to enter a career in the public sphere.  I want
the best possible smile.  I heard about a sugery I could get done that only
involved the tooth that needs to be taken out.  Is there any alternative to
this bridge work my dentist describes?  Please help roxm19@hotmail.com, I
would be really appreciate your time.

Dear luckyroxy:
I am a dentist and as I see it: you are young so you might have your teeth
as white as they should get, but if you are SO concerned... think that the
color of the new tooth will be as near as possible to the color of your own
teeth, so you could have a tooth whitening BEFORE the bridge, so the color
of the crown will be whiter, that's one... another one is to get an implant
and then a crown on it, this way you don't need to touch your teeth next to
the replaced tooth, and if there's ever a difference of color you'd just
have to replace THAT crown ONLY, anyway, it DOES sound good at all it's
better to have a bridge than to have no tooth at all therefore loading the
remaining teeth with the work that the extracted tooth should be doing, ASK
YOUR DENTIST about other treatment possibilities, I'm sure he will tell you
some, if not... then try ANOTHER dentist, pay attention to this: in bridges
the dentist has to grind TWO teeth to be as columns supporting the "fake"
middle tooth, so if you're young and healthy I'd go for a Titanium Implant,
as young people tend less to reject implants.
I hope you make a right decission.
Cheers!
Gabriel

Roxy,

I am with you. Get root canal therapy instead and SAVE the tooth. Hey!
Send me an x-ray and I will confirm my diagnosis.

I understood that the tooth MUST be extracted BUT.....
I agree here with Joel, post an X ray so we could see it, maybe it's able to
do what Joel says (Root Cannal Treatment) if the tooth is "savable" then
..... WHY NOT???!!!

GO FOR IT!
