I am not trying to pick a fight with anyone but if you read JD's initial
post (1/17/06 2:59P) he had already decided that the work was substandard.
My post "for the JD's of this world" on 1/18/2006 9:45P states the longevity
of crowns and its various factors most of which have nothing to do with poor
workmanship.

I have been practicing dentistry 33 years and many times patients will bad
mouth previous dental work by another practitioner.  I am not saying there
are not poor practitioners out there but most dentists are conscientious and
try to do the best under sometimes very trying circumstances.  Those that
immediately criticize past work are usually those that will eventually
criticize mine.

I am not trying to present myself in your eyes either friendly or
nonfriendly.  I am just trying to tell it like it is.

As for my treatment of JD and Tony please look at their initial
postings---they are neither friendly nor open minded.  They accused  my
profession of doing poor quality work that I was only interested in taking
radiographs in order to up my fee.  Patients like that are truly difficult
to manage and impossible to please.

Whether you wish to listen to my posts or not is up to you but I do have
long experience in family dentistry and am willing to answer question from
the "Sue" and others of this newsgroup who do not feel like you do that I am
picking fights.

I wish you goodwill Pellmell.....

Hi Dr Harry,

Let me just tell you, from what I have seen, Pellmell is one of the
more courteous and caring posters here.  He may be a bit sensitive to
patients because of past flames that have been thrown at patients in
the past (by  a couple of the longtime nondentist SMDers, that happened
to be brother and sister).

It seems we are all a bit wary as of late, due to an unprecedented
onslaught of malicious attacks and flames thrown in an attempt to chase
interested newbies off this site.

In my opinion, it was awful dispaly on everyone's part..

Then in a surprise announcement, these siblings (brother and sister)
publically denounced each other.  It was very weird.  I really do not
know what to make of it.  I I am not sure what they are doing, but I
wish them the best.

FYI.  None of us are perfect here... we just try to moderate ourselves,
the best we can.

Welcome to SMD... an open and unmoderated forum for discussing dental
topics.  I for one,  welcome your expertise.  I hope you and the other
professionals that are undoubtedly responsible for creating the true
substance of this site, will draw more colleagues to join in this
uncensored  forum.

(Although moderation has its place, censorship creates bias).

JMHO,

Whoa! I missed something here! (Not surprising, actually, given the
number of posts I skip in order to maintain a reasonable blood
pressure.)

Sue, can you give me a link to find those denunciations? Or maybe a
quote with which to do a Google search?

Found it. Thanks!

I was wondering how I missed such a breakup so major, until I saw the
title of the thread (a typically Momentous-sounding Webby title which I
would have avoided reading)... and the dates. Those exchanges between
Webby and Chang were over a year ago. Judging by their more recent
exchanges in this forum, the two siblings have worked through the
issue.

Still, I find it as upsetting now as I did in college that it's the
unbalanced people who are pulled so hard into religion -- particularly
into cults that masquerade as Christianity. Serious Christians are NOT
all nutcases, but when the most noticeable people are nutcases,
outsiders sure get the idea that all Christians are unbalanced.

Pellmell,

Thanks for clarifying.  That thread was recently pointed out to me and
therefore I assumed it was a recent discussion.  I did not look at the
dates.

IMO the fight was not about religion.  I am glad they have worked out
their issues.

Best,

Sue
