Yeah,
how do i convince the guy to give me what i want?
It's NHS (government) paid treatment but i guess he still
earns proportionately more for rc?

Search for "holistic dentist" on the NHS website... (<-- joke)

Why would you want the tooth removed if it can be saved?

I didn't even realise you could get root canals on the NHS: I'd have
thought he'd have pulled it and sent you packing... I don't understand
why you'd want to have it pulled if you can have a root canal at no
cost to you (unless they do it in five minutes with no anaesthetic
because that's all the NHS will pay for :)).

NHS is not at no cost to the patient.  An extraction would be very
much cheaper than a root canal to the patient on the NHS.

Why would you have a tooth extracted if the problem can be solved with rct?

If the treatment does not agree with the person performing it, that
person has the right to refuse on the basis of ethics and liability.
Just because you want your heart removed does not mean the cardilogist
will perform the procedure, especially if he/she believes it will cause
you harm. Cost has nothing to do with this and just proves the point
that the dentist is looking out for your health.
