I would substitute the word "often" for SteveB's use of "OCCASIONALLY".
Just my experience. Not that he is wrong and I am right.

Some suggest that the fever symptoms occur often because *kids* get URIs
and other "bugs" so **often** in early childhood that it is difficult to
separate the teething from the "illness"... and so, it is *often* found
that kids display symptoms of colds/mild URIs because they often are
cutting teeth!! They don't come in during the course of a day or week
... kids can teeth for a long time just to get one tooth in place.
And of course, "not that he is wrong and I am right" ... but just
because that's the word around town... ;-)

Either term is pretty nebulous. A lot of kids will run fevers at the
drop of a hat, and teething is a pretty convenient target. It is also
possible for those kids who have significant pain during teething, the
stress from interference with sleep patterns, eating, etc. may make the
kid more susceptible to other bugs.
We were pretty lucky. Lauren never had more than the sniffles until
her first birthday (though she spent her first birthday with roseola,
and she was pretty sick then).
