i just had thr root canal done three or four days ago, and it was the frist
one i have ever had done, but something is not right with it. when i put my
jaws together it feels like it is higher than all my other teeth and i can't
put that much pressure on it. it is my last molar on the bottom right side. i
cant eat anything but soup. I tried eating some beef jerkey on the left side
and accedently hit the tooth and i was in soooo much pain for the rest of the
night. after it was frist done when the numbness wore off it hurt clear up in
to my ear now 3 or 4 days later it still hurts but this time it is my hole
right side of my bottom jaw. the pain meds only work for a few hours and then
it hurts again. will the pain ever stop and if not what should i do? thank
you for your help.

Hi Kat,
This doesn't sound like it is a big problem. See the dentist who did
the root canal treatment soon to adjust the filling. The pain will
probably stop very soon.
Do not take a chance on chewing something hard with that tooth until
the permanant filling is in it. You could easily fracture the tooth,
and you might have to have it removed. The tooth is very weak right
now. Don't test it.
One more thing. It is possible that another tooth needs a root canal
as well. Just think, whatever made this tooth have a problem was
effecting the teeth around it at the same time.

You could still have some residual infection and or the filling could
be high. Are you taking antibiotics???? If not see your dentist because
you might need some.
This sort of thing happens when you wait until the tooth starts to hurt
before getting a root canal, what that means is that an infection has
already started to spread and this needs to be attended to by taking
antibiotics. The antibiotics will destroy all remaining bacteria and
the pain will disappear.
