Are there truly no implantology training programs in Italy?  That's
hard to believe at this late date.

I think Luigi is looking for some actual hands on surgery courses, not a
didactic course where he listens to a lecture and maybe works up a
case-presentation for discussion with the group.  I don't know of anywhere
where they are going to let you practice the actual surgery to place the
implants outside of residency program.  Many courses will let you observe
actual surgery.  Some will let you bring in your own patient to do surgery
with the instructor after completion of the course.  But, as far as
providing patients to practice on, I think you need to be registered in a
dental school or hospital for that.

There is an 8 weekend mini residency program held at the Nobel Biocare in
Toronto (actually just north in Markham). Part of that program includes
practicing placement in animal mandibles. I'm sure there are butchers in Italy
that could keep a mandible or two for Luigi to practice on.

Exactly.
In Italy you can get un universitary Master in implantology
without never practice on a live man!
You cannot practice on a dead body, also: it is forbidden by the Law
(I went to Paris for a course like that).
A doctor can practice on patients only if  is working in an hospital
with a working contract, not if he is attending a course of a school
dentistry.
I know Master are a different things in U.S., but I'm not looking for
that because I have a my practice and I cannot stay away for months.
I heard something about short course (about one week) on patients in
Cuba and I thought I could find similar course in the Third Word,
where poor people can agree to be a patient for to have an implant at
no cost.
Thanks you very much.
I apologize for my poor English.
Best regards,
Luigi

Your English is fine.  Better than my Italian, and I was born in Mazara del
Vallo.

Esatto: sono difficili non impossibili.
Ad esempio la 3i ne organizza a Coimbra, in Portogallo, tramite il suo
distributore di Terni.

Abbiamo un insegnante locale del implant che fa un certo insegnamento
paziente in tensione. Non ho idea dove una sia stata in Italia.
Perdoni tutta la povera grammatica, poichè il mio vocabolario è troppo
debole per conversare nell'italiano scritto senza usando la traduzione
elettronica.

Do you mean you don't know where I can find a similar stage in Italy?
If you have a contact of the organization I could to send un e-mail or
a fax for to ask about.

I'll try your language.

One needs a dental license in the U.S. Alternatively various
universities have programs but plan on spending three years full time
to learn implantology and periodontics. However, with a license one can
take weekend courses, etc.

As an aside, I know a bit about this as we have in-house
periodontists and restorative dentists providing "affordable implants."
