I had three fillings done, two teeth.  It's been about 4 hours and the
tooth is really bothering me.  It feels like a toothache, but since
I've never had this done before, I'm not sure if this is normal.  I'll
wait until Monday to see how bad it gets or better it gets, but I'm
really worried.  Is this normal at all and I'm just paranoid?

Hi Jason,

I am not a dentist but I have had fillings in the past.  I've  had some
sensitivity following but the pan never lasted for more than a day.  It
was never severe pain either.

Please check back and let us know if your pain is subsiding.

Good luck,
Sue

Jason,
It's impossible to say what's going on without examining you.  However, it
is certainly possible that a tooth would be sensitive after a filling was
done.  Usually this lasts a few days, and then it's better.  If it
continues, call your dentist, and if it's REALLY bad over the weekend, DON'T
wait until Monday.  Good luck!

Thanks for replying... Now that I'm away from my freezing office and
outdoors (it's 37f here), it does seem to be sensitivity to cold and
heavy pressure.  I'm not having any problems while I eat warm food, and
actually it makes the pain go away.  I'm drinking water through a straw
to prevent pain.

If it does continue, I will contact my dentist.  I'm thinking it will
go away by tomorrow though.  There was a lot of drilling, both sides of
the tooth that was touching the other teeth needed cavities removed, so
it might just be very sensitive because of a lot of trauma.

I'll keep everybody posted, but in the meantime, if anybody knows if
this is normal, let me know.

Thanks,

Jason
