Hi,

What would be the need for a crown( not a veneer) on a tooth that has not
recieved root canal therapy?
If the tooth begins to hurt a year after the crown placement, will the tooth
need a root canal at that point?

If the tooth does need a root canal, can the crown be saved and replaced?

Thank you.

If the tooth hurts root canal it`s a must. In some cases th crown can
be saved, specially if you refer the patient to an endodontics
specialist BUT ti depends of the case. Also you can remove the crown
and rebuild the core and use the same crown, but it also depends.  The
most common procedure is doing everything again.

most times you can do rootcanal thru the crown.

I agree.  Cerana makes a nice pre-made ceramic inlay system for sealing
crowns after RCT.
