O = occlusal (top or biting surface)
L = lingual (tongue side)
B = buccal (cheek side)
M = mesial (front side)
D = distal (back side)
A BOL on #19 means a filling was placed on the lower left first molar and
involved the cheek, biting, and front portions of the tooth.
The palliative care is anything to get patient out of pain. If someone comes
in and you adjust their bite because it is uncomfortable, or help them
dislodge a piece of popcorn lodged deeply in their gum, or medicate them for
a tooth related problem....it would be considered palliative care.
Impossible to know what it was in your case.

Amanda, maybe the question isn't why that dentist diagnosed so many
cavaties. but real question is why your old dentists didn't bother to
treat those cavities. You should thank your dentist for finding those
cavaties before it becomes big and needing rootcanals.

Yup, within reason, yup.

I personally wouldn't assume either is right or wrong. To my mind, a
sudden change in dental fortune when changing dentists calls for another
opinion.

I changed detist only because I moved to another state.

Right. I didn't mean to imply that there was anything wrong with the
first dentist. We don't know if the first dentist was watching
questionable cavities, or missing them, or doing everything right. We
also don't know if the second dentist is over-diagnosing. Hence,
another consultation is in order.

I think Dangerfield's version was,
"My doctor says I'm crazy. I said I want a second opinion. He said
'OK, you're ugly too!'"

Thanks for the suggestion. I thought that I mentioned that I moved to
this state and found the dentist for my sister (because she was so
incompetent finding a good one on her own) ad later use that dentist
for myself also.

Not bad, but can be confused. By me the back side of the front tooth
is the lingual.

I did not know what this meant either so I asked Howard Farran at
DentalTown and he would not tell me because that is the password for
sneaking onto his site!
O means occlusal
L means LINGUAL, literally tongue in Latin, Lingua Franca, linguini,
etc.
B means buccal, or cheek as is osso bucco, buccinator, bucca
M means mesial or its closly related term medial, as in median strip
of a highway or "towards the middle." The middle is the midline of the
body the line that runs from head to toe and right through the two
front teeth. It divides the body into two largely similar pieces left
and right.
D means distal or away from the midline, like the word distant,
distance, etc.
One more is F that we use interchageably with B as there is no cheek
in the front. So F means facial.

Palliation is ...........
Wait a minute here is WordWeb.
Easing the severity of a pain or a disease without removing the cause
To act in such a way as to cause an offense to seem less serious
I always install WordWeb on every computer. Why? I often get stuck.
Here is an example:
A review of the new Charlize Theron film said,
dishwater mullet.
ANYBODY know what that means?
Joel
I had to look it up.

-------
One more is "Inc" or "I" for incisal, as in the incisal third or
incisal edge.
Re Charlie Theron film: can't help. Don't know who CT is.
Gotta get back to the PB 145.

He fills cavity in almost every tooth which i later ound ou wasnot
considered cavity by other dentisist. He wants to do the same on me -
my former dentist at my previous resident state didn't tell me that I
needed those - and I am not allowing this dentist. He is pressuring me
and so I am changing the dentist and my sister might too.

But mesial is not always medial.
We are talking about an arch.
