so i had the two very different consultations and finally got to see the third
orthdontist, he again came reccomended from my new dentist who reccomended me
to a great surgeon for my wisdom teeth. now, i was hoping this third dentist
would lean towards one of the other two dentists and help me make my decsion
but no, this guy just confused me even more :)the consultation lasted over hour
as he explained in detail about this new system he's been using on 99% of his
patients the last two years.. caled the damon brace, no elastics, self
litigating.. its got this little bracket that significantly decreases friction
and pushes the teeth with less pressure, etc.. it kinda seemed like a sales
pitch which was a little weird but he's been in business for 30 years, taught
at a local university, and he came reccomended.. i figure maybe he's just
passionate about this new method. anyways, i don't know what to do anymore :)
he too reccomended jaw surgery to fix my gummy smile, and opted for a
non-extraction approach.. two years. so, any ideas??

You finally understand that going to 25 different dentists will give
you 25 different opinions.
This is only good to do if you did not find the person you trust the
most or are looking for some different ideas. Nobody could really
direct you to whom to go to, you need to make that decision.
Important thing to remember is do not base it on treatment that would
be easy, go with the dentist you feel comfortable with. Yes there are
quacks out there but hopefully between the recomendations and your
instinct you will find the right one for you.

I have used the damon self ligating brackets, they seem to speed up
treatment time for some cases. I have not been in practice as long as
your orthodontist, however, I don't believe that he was trying to sell
you. I think he was just turely excited, as someone who has been in
practice for 30 years, he is just way excited to do somethign new that
works better, I see it all the time. I would go with this orthodontist.
Good Luck.
