The first thing I would check is the contacts between these two crowns.
If floss slips in passively without resistance, then fibrous foods
like meat will as well. Guaranteed gum problem.
If it was like this since the last crown was inserted, the contact may
never have been adequate. However, sometimes teeth can drift a bit,
opening up this space.
If this is the problem, at least one crown may need to be replaced to
rebuild this contact.
