Gum Tender Around Crown

One of my crowns came off with the post still glued into the crown. The
dentist glued it back on. Weeks later the gum tissue around the grown
became tender and a bit painful. The pain subsides when I rinse with
warm salt water. My new dentist did an XRAY of this tooth and says when
my old dentist glued the crown back on, the tooth did not go in all the
way and he wants to redo the whole crown and post. Is this true?

Did he not show you the xray and explain what he was talking about?
If not ask to see it.

He did an XRAY and it does show the tooth in their crooked looking. At
least to me.

So why do you doubt him.  Sounds like he's doing a good job.

Over the last 10 several years I have been raped, pillaged and
plundered by dentists. Go to Google Groups and type in atlantic965 and
see what comes up !

Have you considered a screenplay about your dentist and what he is
doing after hours .......

in my opinion. From what I've heard she feels no remorse or guilt
whatsoever for commiting adultery. SHEESH. Arg..just had to get that
out. She's also a bit weak, I hear Jascum always has to rescue her.

She's a flat, one dimensional character with no layers.

Courtney is practically unrecognizable now. Everyone warned her about
AJ and she didn't listen. Fine. Now lots of people have bad mouthing
Jason for years and she doesn't listen to them. Also fine.

But Jason is a hitman for the mob. Is it REALLY that hard to believe
that he killed someone? Courtney looks past the violence, murder,
bloodshed and lies like it's no big deal. She's a fool. I'm looking
forward to the day Sonny finds out about their little romance and
Jason ends it! You KNOW Jason would pick Sonny over Courtney in a
heartbeat!

Whomeve you see should remove the crown with the post and make sure
there is no root fracture.  If the root is fractured it generally cannot
be saved.
Sometimes if the fracture doesn't involve the margin of the crown a new
post and core can be made and the old crown re-used.  That's a big "if"
though.
First make sure the root is OK.

Usually if the post held everything in place for a long time, then popped
out, the root has a crack in it.

I agree it's highly likely, given the discomfort and difficult in
replacing the crown in proper position.
I have had patients dislodge crowns with the post/core inside and the
root intact, but generally there are no other symptoms.

I went to my dentist on 10/10/05 and he said the root is not fractured.
He also said he would have to remove this re-glued crown and see if the
old post is salvageable. He says 50/50 chance. But he did say he thinks
a new crown should be made.

Maybe, maybe not.

Can you post an x-ray ?
