Dumb Question About "Dead" Teeth

I'm sorry to ask what is no doubt a dumb question but teeth are a little
bit of a mystery to me.

My teeth #6 and #19 have had root canals; #6 has a crown and #19 has a
big, big filling. Sometimes these teeth will hurt, especially when
touched with something cold. The teeth surrounding them don't hurt, and
don't react to cold or heat. I thought root canals destroyed the nerve
of the tooth, and they were supposed to be incapable of pain afterward.
Am I wrong, or are my teeth crazy?

Actually, I am mentioning the interconnectivity of the human neural
network. Its not as simple as 200-amp house wiring ... eh Dr. Steve?

200-amp wiring?  As all readers of this group know, dentists only have
to contend with spontaneously-generated differentials of 350
millivolts.   ;-)

Erm, yikes. (I counted backwards; its #11 and #30). I think I understand
why #11 would act up; I've seen the x-rays and the root grows into the
sinus area, and I have problems with my nasal sinuses plus the root
canal filling doesn't go completely up into the end of the drilled-out
part. #30 hurting makes me think there is a huge bill in my future.
Thanks for the information.
