Anyone ever get any strange pressure around there ears while initially
wearing the NTI?  I posted pictures of my (incorrect) initial NTI fitting in
the post "Confused about NTI, and need serious professional opinion", dated
9/20.  These are the pics of my initial fitting, which was clearly incorrect
as pointed out by several dentists in this NG:
http://members.cox.net/tpdean/NTI.htm

Dr Fawks was kind enough to see me in his office on 9/26 to get an NTI
properly made for me (will try to post new pics tonight).  Since then, my
headaches have seemed to get a bit better, but I've now got this wierd
pressure in both of my ears for the past few days.  It's not due to internal
air buildup, because I can pop my Eustachian tubes when I swallow.  It just
feels like something is tugging on my ears but I can't exactly isolate where
the pressure is coming from.  When I lie down, the sensation goes away, but
reappears when I stand or sit up.  Any other NTI users experience this?
I've also noticed that my jaw joints have started popping a bit when I open
and close my mouth since wearing the NTI (but the actual joint pain has been
less severe so far).  Things seem to be rearranging in my jaw, as my bite
changes every single day.

If you have experienced things like this while wearing the NTI, how long did
they last before things settled down?

You have a genuine S. Fawks NTI! Great "Someday it will be a
collectors item.

Seriously, Dr. Fawks has been making NTI's almost as long as I have. I
trust him to make it right.   What you describe is a joint that is
passing through certain phases as it returns to a previous condition.
There is a muscle which goes into spasm on people who clench. This
muscle sends some fibers to the Eustachian tubes and a few fibers to
the inner ear. I suspect that now your other muscles are relaxing, you
are noticing symptoms previously hidden by the bigger problems.  Give
it sometime. I suspect you may need some minor adjustments to how your
teeth touch. Make sure someone checks your teeth with magnification
for fractures.

These are the pics of the NTI that Dr. Fawks adjusted for me (upper), and
the new one he made for me (lower):
http://members.cox.net/tpdean/New-NTI.htm

Right now, I've been using the lower one as it feels better in my mouth.

Excellent pictures.  Sorry the ones I tried to take with your camera
didn't turn out.

I would add that I adjusted the occlusion of the cuspids slightly, and
found no posterior contact upon insertion.

Mancuso is much better versed in technical terms, but I'm not a bad
'mechanic'.  His early comments on the NTI were instrumental for me
to actually try them (Hans was European and Boyd was going to make
money off of them<G>).  That is probably the best thing that smd has
done for me.

Maybe I've contributed a little over the years to make up for that.

That seems like a century ago that we were debating whether or not to
change our focus and try the NTI.

I didn't have to 'change focus' since I really had none.  I knew
traditional splints were BS.  I just figured the NTI sounded too
good to be true.  Five or six years later, I'm sure glad I gave
then a shot!

Maybe someday I'll get a Cerec and you'll get a laser.

Where upon SM carried on with the pagan blaspheeming:

If I buy a laser, will you buy a CEREC ?

And so it came to pass that the Pipe squeaked:

If you buy a Laser, and you buy it form Biolase, make the sales man
(read: snake, IMO) puts it in WRITING that you will be able to get
service and parts and a GUARANTEE on that service for at least the
coming five years. Get that document signed by the company president,
and notarize it. That way, when they decide to change models again in
three years, you have some teeth to show, and at least one leg to stand
on. If your snake hemms and hawws, adopt a
know-it-all-wasn't-born-yesterday attitude and casually mention that
the snake familiarize himself with how his company stuck it to the
Millennium One owners. Remember: IMO, Steve Jobs has nothing on these
guys running Biolase, as far as changing directions and leaving their
customers out in the cold with no support goes. Maybe, just maybe,
that's why their stock is doing so poorly these past two years. Maybe
it is time to look at the DeLite or the Kavo Lasers.

and swearing as he hunts and pecks his way through the silly little
Excel routines that he is making, hoping to catch his secretary in the
act of acutally putting real money in her pocket, knowing all the while
that she has racked up at least 8000$ over the four years, and that
he'll never see a penny of that, and it's all his own fault...>    :-/

Cheers, see you all sometime later

I'd rather send her a copy of 'The Firm' by (John?) Grisham. The guys
in the firm decide to spy and blackmail their associates in this big
law firm, and then threaten to kill their kids of they yap. It was made
into a movie with Pee Wee Herman as the hero as well, I think.

Thanks

Not this year, but I'm not against the technology.
