I'm reading this book, "You.  The owners manual."

One of the physician authors, in one chapter says, if someone should
have TMJ pain, or headaches related to, rest a cork inbetween your
teeth for a little while.  They say this will relieve pain associated
with by relaxing the musculature involved with your jaws.

Thoughts?

Of course, they both do the same thing, but I'd hate to aspirate or
swallow a cork.

Many people use a marshmallow rather than an NTI. I read it at
sci.med.dentistry.

This is excellent therapy for people that are too big for their
britches. I frequently recommend the cork and snap a ditial photo of
them lookin' ridiculous. Then I post it all over the internet and on
men's room walls in bus stations all over the east coast.

I cannot comment  because i am laughing too hard.

On a serious note though.. I REALLY need to stick to my business and
not get caught up in dental board dramatics.

I was getting too caught up in trying to figure out why half my posts
were being deleted on DT ... I got a bit insane trying to figure it out
and almost TRASHED my whole life over that.

I do not wish to repeat my mistakes.

So I will be in here once in awhile.. but not too much.

Amatus, sorry I yelled.

OK. Much later then.  Have fun.  Share some good info and other good
stuff,

Sue

Soft nighguards are useless, so they say.
Much better to uncork full wine bottle and put bottle opening between lips.

Dr Shad

Does that treatment include drinking the entire bottle of wine first?

If the cork is missing, you wouldn't want the wine to spoil, would you?

Seriously -- with a 20mm cork between the teeth, I think the darn
strain from the increased vertical dimension would drive the patient
crazy.

Why do you suppose we don't use 20mm high discluding elements on NTI's?

I think it is because we don't want the patients to start thinking that
maybe holdin' a 20mm cork between the teeth would be a better solution.

Then again, I think a lot of things...

"It's the saaaaamme old wine...

In a brand new bottle..."

So are you guys serious?  Is this a serious treatment?

I usually just take moist, hot towels and place them on my temples...

This helps.

And also stay away from stressful situations if possible..

Gravitate toward pleasant situations whenever possible..

PS And I am not talking trash, so nobody even go there ...ok?

A couple-a situations where I need my NTI:

Sleeping, unless I want a stiff neck in the mornin'
Driving, 'specially when I'm late.
Programming MicroRats Excel
Watching the Tube (w/o exaggeration: maybe six times per year)
Watching a movie with my kids.
Difficult treatments at the chair side.
Waiting on the phone.
Sitting in those small seats in an airplane.

There is no way to avoid stressful situations. The key is to manage them
well.
