Is it possible to get an overdose as an adult from:

Twice a day fluoride mouthwash and..
Twice a day fluoride toothpaste and..
Fluorided drinkwater?

What are the earliest signs of fluorosis?

If you don't eat the toothpaste or drink the mouthwash, you should be
OK. Dental fluorosis occurs as the teeth are forming so an adult isn't
subject to it.

Wait a minute -- "fluriode?"

Is that like a cathode or anode?

Then electricity is involved! Millivolts, no doubt!

WHERE is Keith Walsh when you really need him??

IIRC, fluriode is a deady gas liberated when a mouth containing amalgam
is subjected to cosmic rays and MTV from the cable companies.

If Hans has the misfortune of smoking within one hour after generating
this killer gas in his mouth...

KA_BLOO_Y!!!!!!

No more Hans, no more Foots, no more fingers....

Sorry, Hans; just a little clowning here...

Fluoride from toothpaste and mouthrinses get absorbed into the body,
even if not swallowed. Early signs of fluoride toxicity are

1) aches and pain in the joints, i.e. neck, back, hip, shoulder and
knee without visible signs of fluid accumulation

2) non-ulcer dyspepsia such as nausea, vomiting, pain in the stomach,
bloated feeling or gas formation in the stomach, constipation followed
by diarrhea

3) polyuria (frequent urination) and polydipsia (excessive thirst)

4) muscle weakness, fatigue, anemia with low hemoglobin level

This according to fluoride expert Dr. Susheela of India who studies
fluoride poisoning among people living in high water fluoride areas

Hans,

Keep in mind that the absence of fluorosis does not equate with an
absence of fluoride toxicity.  So your question might be better
phrased:

"What are the earliest signs of fluoride toxicity?"

In my unedutaed opinoin I do not believe that there are many cases of
adult fluoride toxicity.. howveer I do believe that enamel fluorosis is
a frequent problem seen in children today  (as well as increased caries
rates... not due to too much fluoride, bit rtaher increased sugar laden
juices and sodas)

If anyone is interested in more dentist's views on enamel fluorosis in
children please see:

What you _believe_, Mrs. ADA, is one thing. What the scientific
literature says is something quite different!
