Hi i am having some vague feeling or mild pain which i think is at the
gumline in some areas and i dont know what it is.
I have been to a mouth hygienst she cleaned my teeth and said i have some
light gingivitus and minor bleeding occured while cleaning interdental
plaque
She investigated the area i reported the pain and said it looked allright,
also no cavities showing on xray. There are some fillings in the area.
problem gets worse when smoking (quit since a month)
problem gets worse when i have a cold, (which i have all the time)
feeling goes away when using chewing gum
feeling goes away after eating
no diseases, fairly healthy
minor stress (new job)
condition has been present for 8 months
Any idea what this might be, my dentist and hygienist dont have a clue?

Massage the gums with your fingertip ....... LOTS!

I would try to get the regular mouth dentist to check the teeth
instead of the mouth hygienist. Some of the Mouth Hygienists think
they are the mouth dentist's boss, but this is generally not true!
If the mouth dentist is in the back typing at sci.med.dentistry, go
back there and yank him out front.

Now this is funny! A mouth hygienist. Someone else called them pumice
queens - I forget who, though.
Like Chriopractors, who think every ailment can be cured through the
back, hygienists (some) think that holy pumice can cure all dental
problems!

I'm not a dentist, but it might have something to do with saliva flow.
If your dentist can't see anything wrong, try sucking sugar-free sweets
and see if that helps.

You also want to avoid "mouth non dentists" sometimes they get some
uncany ideas about saliva causing pain.
LOL.

About *lack* of saliva causing mild discomfort. Incidentally, that was
the only common denominator I could see in the descriptions of what
makes symptoms worse and what alleviates them. Unless you can come up
with something better?
I am sorry you're peeved off, but one of my moderators deleted your
posts before I even got to see them. According to them, it was pretty
vile stuff, but not having seen it, I can't comment. Personally, I
probably would've simply moved it to the "discussion" area. It would
appear that it wasn't "support" material.

Could be a fractured tooth. Get it checked again with this in mind.
