Water Pik

I think I already know the answer to this question, but thought I would
get everyone's thoughts.  I went to a dentist who's staff advised to
purchase a water pik (how convenient, they have them for sale in the
office!).  The dental hygienist also told me that if I use a water pik
every day, I don't need to floss.  Well, I did that for 6 months and,
guess what?  That's right, cavities, the kind that are in between the
teeth.

That is bad advice, no?  Anyone have a recommendation for a dentist in
St Louis?  Help/advise is greatly appreciated.

A water pik does NOT replace floss no matter what chemical you place in the
water reservoir.  You must remove the plaque mechanically.

You still brushed before the water pik?   I mean, you still brush when you
use floss.

Happiness doesn't come from having things, it comes from *having things you
can find* :)

As a practicing dentist this is what I do (at least twice a day and
after eating - when at home):

Brush

Floss

WaterPik

BTW you can purchase the WaterPik at Wal-Mart very inexpensively.
