My teeth seem very out of alignment and I notice it a lot in the last
few days.  My bottom fronts are more crooked than ever.  In early
summer my teeth and gums were bothering me, so I went and got my last
two wisdom teeth removed as they were coming in on the right side.
After that healed up, I felt good for a while, but in the last few
weeks..

Well now, it's the same thing only worse, as my bite doesn't seem to
close the same. My teeth have shifted.  My bite has changed and I even
stumbled on a few words yesterday.  My gums feel as though they
vibrating or pulsing, and my teeth feel loose.  I'm hoping that's just
my imagination! No gum bleeding, puss or anything.  They look kinda
normal, but don't feel normal.

Two weeks ago I made an appointment with my dentist.  The earliest they
can get me in is 9/12.  I keep calling in the hopes of a cancelation.
I feel I may have gum disease and worry about losing teeth the longer I
wait. I have to use this dentist for insurance reasons and then have to
get a referral from him before I can see a peridontist.  Is there
anything I can do/take in the mean time to help my situation until I
can see a professional?

My guess is that you have a flare-up of preexisting infection. Clean
your teeth well, use the floss a couple of times per day, take OTC
antiinflammatory medications, get a local pharmacist to give you a mouth
rinse to calm the pain a bit, use OxyFresh mouth rinse four times a day,
and above all: STOP SMOKING! You are going to need to change things a
bit if you want to keep those teeth. I also feel you will need to see
your dentist often to keep disinfecting your mouth. I would suggest
seeing him four times a year. Once the infections are under control,
your general dentist should be able to keep it under control.

Remember: the antiinflammatories, soothing mouth rinses and the OxyFresh
are only stop gap measures at best. The CAUSE of your disease is plaque
and tarter hiding underneath the gum line, combined with a change in
your natural resistance to infection. The THERAPY is getting  the sh.t
outta there. Because you cannot sterilize your mouth, you must do this
on a regular basis.

STOP SMOKING... and change your guitar strings(!)

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanx Stovepipe. You talk like you know me!!!!!

I NEED to change my strings!!!  Either that or get a tetnus shot!

I quit smoking 1.5 years ago.  But did 20 years of damage prior to
that.

I took for granted as I was lucky to never have a cavity, filling, or
anything.  But I realize I can't do that any longer.  I just gotta get
in that dentist's office sooner.

Old story ...... some people get off criminal cases because they
cannot testify or something.

No what?

Oh, nevermind.

Swish with warm salt and water ......

You don't mention your age, which would be a consideration.  However, 20
years of smoking can cause MANY problems, even though you quit 1 1/2 years
ago.  I would concur with Joel, and start using warm salt water rinses about
8 times a day, and also brush your teeth -- particularly the sides and near
the gums -- at least twice a day.  Also, start using dental floss between
all your teeth before you go to bed.  I wouldn't use any mouthwash or
medications, as I'd want the dentist to see the situation as it is, so it
will be easier to make a diagnosis.  Sometimes, the medicines and moutwashes
can cause reactions, etc., and it would be hard for the dentist to know
which problems are caused by them and which were there originally.  The 12th
is only a week away, and maybe your dentist can see you earlier.  If and
when you do see a periodontist, the success of ANY treatment really is up to
you, and your homecare routine.  Good luck.

About your teeth being out of alignment, I had the same problem with
Volkswagon once. I hit a curb and afterwards it was very interestin
driving. I went to the RE-alignment center and said, "Align it bac
up."

When I picked it up it still shook like a Tin Lizzy. The guy put it o
the hoist and there we saw a huge balloon coming from where I damage
the inside of the front tire. The alignment was, is, and will b
perfect. It was the tire.

So-o-oo-o-oo-o-o-o-oo, what I learned:

"Let the professional make the diagnosis and recommend treatment."

When you do it yourself, ..... you pay ... and pay ..... and pay.
