Not long ago one of my crowns came off with the post still in it. The dentist glued it back on. 2 Days ago I feel a dull pain when I rub my finger on the gum near the tooth. This tooth was root canalled. There appears to be no swelling. I had a bad tooth abecess once and this does not seem like it. This tooth was root canalled long ago. I have been doing warm salt water rinses several times per day. Any ideas what may be happening? > Not long ago one of my crowns came off with the post still in it. I would just be speculating, but a similar thing happened to my wife. She now has an implant. What I think happened in her case was I attempted to place a longer post, and managed to push some C&B Metabond past the apex of the root. It is also possible that there is just a bit of stray cement that got impacted into the gum. You should have your dentist have a look. Just on the offchance that there's a loose piece of something in the interdental space, try tying one or two knots in a piece of dental floss and pull it bucco-lingually (horizontally from one side to the other) to dislodge what is in there. This might be just a bit of pus, but it may just be a piece of fractured tooth. If so, you should feel at least _some_ relief.
