Come on Joel, you understand exactly. Sure, usenet was on deja - google but
nobody was interested. The DC & other websites accessing NNTP have taken
the uniqueness, nerdness ect out of usenet. No one I ever talked to had a
clue what usenet was - and that made it special - public domain or not, it
was. The other factor, which Dr. Steve noted, is that everything is now
blasted to everyone with webtv. It took some ingenuity 10 yrs ago to even
find newsgroups (or in the case of JD - blind pigs and acorns). And also to
a degree, those of us that have not approached usenet with anonymity now
have our quotes all over the place.
Just a few thoughts, like most people it takes me a while to embrace change.
And sometimes I don't, then one just deals with it.
OTOH, it appears in this scenario, it would be much more difficult for a
mentally challenged, menopausal nutcase, with a good dose of that old time
religion (if such a creature existed) to complain about a poster using a
web-based NNTP portal.
BTW att.net will let binaries be in SMD for about 36 hrs. Then they
disappear.

Carabelli,
I guess you did not click on the link. BG Anderson is the intelligent
involved guy who claims he never heard of digital x-rays and electronic
cleaning equipment.
I was asking Dr. Steve his opinion about how many of his patients have
expressed similar thoughts before coming to his Troy Michigan office.
Is Philadelphia a backward place or is this ubiquitous?
I am wondering if this is a valuable dental discussion., I think it
is.
I could describe it without the image, but why?

Isn't that something that Google does? Why not complain to Google no
Justin? In fact, www.DentalCom.Net is not indexed by Google at all.
was encouraging Justin to change that, and as a stop-gap measure, si
months ago or so, I hand reposted lots of DentalCom topics t
sci.med.dentistry and vice-versa.
To this day, DentalCom.net only gets reposted THROUGH usenet! Tha
means sci.med.dentistry is responsible for the word getting around, no
the reverse.

About reading threads to oquickly ...... Possibly so.
The thread was about why an intelligent guy could claim he never heard
of digital x-rays. I am still surprised.

Took forever to load (even on a fast DSL line), so I skipped whatever
the image was.

It wasn't worth viewing anyway. It was just some guy
on the Philadelphia vBulletin boasrd saying he never
heard of digital x-rays.

The difference is the Google simply refers the reader back to the NG.
Where web based sites spread the quotations all over the world and
sometimes edit the statements, or display them without the supporting
coversation thread.
