Hi,
I probably won't find much sympathy here ;-) but...I am irrationally
afraid of dental procedures. And yes, I know (I /know/) that I need to
see a dentist regularly for optimal dental health.
That being said, is there anything I can do myself to get rid of
tobacco stains on my teeth? I quit smoking, and I'd really like my
teeth to reflect that :-)
It's only a few teeth...not too bad of staining, although dental
hygienists could disagree with me...who knows? I don't care about
getting my teeth white. I just want the staining gone. And I'm willing
to commit some time and effort. Just not ready /yet/ to overcome my
fear.
Thanks for any advice. And please be gentle ;-)

It takes a lot of guts to quit smoking. Congratulations!
For the tartar and stain, there isn't much you can do
but have them cleaned at a dental office.

I haven't had to remove tar stains, but I've had some mild success at
home with whitening systems. Kicker is, I had my tight-fitting tooth
molds made by a dentist. The one with the store kit, that you mold
yourself, is a bit roomy and less efficient at keeping the whitening
gel against the teeth.
