what kills periodontal pathogens ?
tried tons of mouthwashes and antibiotics and still got
it......peroxide,peridex,flagel,pen
vk,tetracyline,amoxicillin,cipro,keflex,velosef,and many more.....
can anything regrow the bone loss ? ......horizontal bone loss can't put
in gortex or bone.... wont hold it says periodontist has to have pocket
to hold fake bone in....just perio maintenance cleaning and deep root
planning cleaning by quadrant
also does a germ terminator toothbrush sanitizer do anything to knock
down the count of pathogens ?
also does it melt the bristles do to hot steam ?

Many agents will kill periodontal pathogens. Problem is delivery of
antimicrobial to where it is needed in high enough concentrations to
kill them. Furthermore, since these bacteria are very very common and
the most destructive grow best in an oxygen-poor environment, they tend
to regrow quickly if allowed to.
For this reason pocket elimination is still the backbone of periodontal
therapy, along with meticulous oral hygiene.

Your periodontist is correct--horizontal bone height is difficult to
augment with grafting. Some angular boney defects are difficult as
well, depending upon their size, shape and location.
The key is removing teeth that are too far gone and concentrating
efforts on teeth worth saving.

I'm not familiar with this device.

Ten minutes of exposure to some rather toxic chemicals will kill the vast
majority of those bugs. If the pathogens are in a human mouth, and the
person wearing that mouth wishes to remain healthy, that person should seek
out the physical removal of those pathogens followed by better than
excellent home care. That would give the WBC's a chance to clean up what is
left over, and good health could begin.

Is that surprising to anyone?

Sounds reasonable.

Does it have the Governator's picture on the package? Just throw out your
toothbrush every few months.
> also does it melt the bristles do to hot steam ?
Try putting it in your dishwasher.

Here is my way of answering your questions:
One cannot sterilize the mouth, period. The action of antibiotics is to
bring the NUMBER of pathogens down to a level where your system can keep
them under control. Antibiotics cannot eliminate them for good. They
cannot be considered a chronic therapy.
The aim of therapy (not cure; THERAPY for this chronic disease) is to
keep the number of pathogens down to a managable quantity. This is done
by eliminating their homes: Plaque and Tartar, and by eliminating the
areas where they can hide.
How often? Every three months or four at the outside.
As SB has said: you can eliminate your pockets by repositioning the gum
tissue higher on the root. You will STILL need to keep the recall
appointments to PREVENT the disease from becoming active again.
Run to Staples and get an indelible marker. Buy a soft or ultra soft
tooth brush and write the date three months from now on it using the
marker. When that day arrives, throw out your tooth brush and get
another one. Mark it again. Repeat till the end of time.
A diabetic cannot eliminate his disease by taking insulin one time.
S/he needs it as therapy on a chronic basis.
Likewise in Periodontal disease, the therapy is done by the
hygienist/dentist/periodontist. No reason your regular dentist cannot
participate with some of the regular disinfection/cleanings.
Take heart: some of the Powers that Be are predicting that gene
therapies aimed at eliminating the inflammatory response to plaque will
be here in ten years or so.
Hope this makes things clearer.
