It's interesting that more than 20 posts went into a thread and the
person's main question, the subject line,  was not addressed.  It was
asked:

> Any recommendations on whether to see an MD, a DDS, or MD,DDS for TMJ
> problems and orthognathic surgery?  Does it matter?
> Thanks!

Why did the poster ask the above questions?  Those are good questions
and given the poster asked them tells me something.

Unless we suspect fracture, tumor, genetic abnormality, etc, the  OP
should find a DDS/DMD who understands the NTI device. Not one who has
it made of a lab.  Avoid the "self-proclaimed" TMJ specialist.

Hi Dr. Steve.  Have a look at this link's info, please.

http://surgery.org/press/news-release.php?iid=363

It points us in the direction that the poster may have been considering.
This is just meant to touch upon the subject that brings dentistry and
medicine into an arena of "conflict" over the questions of "whose
patients are they anyway???"

Food for thought, so to speak.

I guess you did, but maybe you and I perceived the questions asked by
the poster in different ways.  It's possible, you know.

Still guessing eh ?

Words mean something. You should know that at your age.
Life is not perfect for anyone.
Do you think that you are the *only* one who has ever suffered ?

Gimme a f*n' break.

Actually it is not possible.
"Words mean something."
Situational truth ?

Your perception is blinded by your pre-concieved notions.

As an aside:
Have recieved several serious injuries in my life,
I don't bitch about them, I just live with it.
You would never know it if you met me IRL.

You know, this isn't about me suffering.  Maybe it's about you
suffering... I'm really very sorry if I have offended you in some way.
I know that words mean something.  Words in our forum is all we have
unless we have met each other in person.  When that's the case we have
more to work with as we converse.  Of course life is not perfect.  Life
is filled with "life".  Yes, I know this at my age.

Okay.  I am.

No, I'm not guessing for the sake of guessing.  What else am I supposed
to do?  I'm asking you to communicate with me but there's some sort of a
barrier between us.  I don't know why that is. Maybe you know something
I don't.

> Actually it is not possible.

You don't think it's possible for two people to interpret something in
two different ways regardless of the words used?  How's that?

Well, I'm not that stubborn, W_B.  If I have pre-conceived notions, as
everyone does, that doesn't mean my mind is closed to learning or
changing my notions given good reason.

I'm sorry that you've had serious injuries.  I truly am.  I don't see
you as a person who would complain about your life as it is.  I hope we
can get back on track.

No, I don't.
You cannot disregard the words used. Words mean something.
An astute writer can easily convey the intended meaning.

Fair enough.

Never thought that we slipped the track.
I just don't agree with you sometimes.

what I noticed in the OP is that she described having very extensive
surgery to correct a problem that would not be fixed by the surgery.
With the potential for many side-effects.  Ortho-gothic surgery to
reposition the jaws will Not fix migraines and TMJ clicking

Exactly what I thought... and I *know* that it isn't that difficult to
convince a person that surgery will fix those two problems.  I was so
foolish to have believed that it would *prevent* the joint problems that
I didn't even have (yet).  Ortho-gothic is a perfect description.

Thank you for your good wishes.  Yes, it is an intense subject matter
for discussion in any environment.  And here, in usenet, it is
especially challenging.  A good rest can't hurt any of us.
