Nope! I was looking around the eBay.ca and I couldn't find one of those
little 13 inch TV's with a VHS recorder in it. They all have DVD's in
them now and I absolutely NEED it to be a VHS. So I phoned around and
the Wal-Banger store near us is the only place where I could still find
one of those. So I went out tonite and got it. If you want to know why,
take a look at this:

http://tinypic.com/5untk7

This little gizmo cost me just under 100$ USAian dollars. It takes four
AAA batteries, and connects directly to the RCA jack 'video in' on your
recorder or TV. As soon as you plug it in, it illuminates with four
little LED lights around the aperture. The camera doesn't record or
anything, so I need to have a TV with a VHS in it so as to record the
patients' images. This model is aimed at the informed consumer such as
yourself. I saw it advertised in <gasp!> Dental Town magazine. If you
want to contact them, I can fish the number out of my Visa statement,
but I think once you see the inside of your mouth one time, the novelty
is dead.

But the upshoot is that I now have a functional IntraOral camera that
cost me about 250$ Kannnadian. THAT is why I am so excited.... I stopped
by the local big box hardware and got a white micro wave stand in kit
form as well to wheel the TV between the two opertories.

I'm gonna repost this answer under a more descriptive heading so the
other pointy-heads who might be interested can see it.

Cheers!

I cant live without gizmos. Especially when I manage to do it on the
cheap. Other than scratching and watching the Steelers & Penguins, I
never feel quite so manly.

..or a suitable input on your PC and loads of free S/W to capture motion and
still images.

Funny you should mention that, I just recently (though slightly
accidentally) bought the 9" version of that.  Those guys are about the only
"real" 12 volt televisions that you can buy.  Ours is standing by for storm
duty.

That is cute!  Not at all what I had pictured from your description.

Will it still work after you pop it into the autoclave?

Autoclaves are soooo antiquated.

But silly Vaughn: Dangerous pathogens cannot stick to any modern
technological apparatus. That is what I deduced when I was told that I
didn't have to Autoclave my Laser's handpiece. I did anyway, and 2 and a
half years later, my Laser is dead. Shame on me...

So, I'm gonna learn my lesson this time: I won't worry about dangerous
pathogens, and so I'll merrily stick this little camera into the mouth
of some 65 year old alcoholic drug abuser, wipe it off, and then turn
right around and put it into some little 6 year old little tyke's
mouth... no worries, Mate....

--OR,........... perhaps,....... just maybe---

I'll use the disposable cellophane sheaths that come with the camera
(and which can be re-ordered). They look like prophylactics for some
Looooonnng and thin type of guy.....

tee-hee-hee           ;-)

Check out RF Systems. They're the biggest manufacturer of wireless
intraoral cameras, although this simple model is wired and uses simple
batteries to hold down the cost.

RF Systems makes very good professional models, but I was surprised
that they could make a simple model so cheaply -- and it actually
works.

Ezzatly... Bill, If you don't mind my asking; where did you hear about
this little camera? I found it while flipping through the recent <gasp!>
Dental Town magzine. Also, how are you capturing and recording your
images (if indeed you _are_ saving them.
Thanks

Certainly, Krzysztof. I'll look in the documentation for a regular
Telephone number or a fax or an email address  or a Web address. The 800
number would not work from Europe.

You can start with their website:

Unfortunately, there are no specs that I can find. If you go to the
above web site, there is a .pdf instruction manual on how to use this
camera, but no real secifications on the thing.

All I can say was that we had a full screen image on the television I
bought, and you can see most details of a tooth or gum tissue well.
There is also a magnifying attachment. I suggest you access the web site
and go to their Contact Us button. I don"t want to give the email here
as it will be spammed.
Thanks
