hope someone could answer my query.

I want to get my molar tooth extracted. I have heart murmur. So I have
to take Antibiotcs prior to extraction. Do I need to continue
antibiotics after extraction if only one tooth is extracted. under what
circumstances antibiotics are taken after extraction. My dentist
suggests that I go on a ten day course of antibiotics after the
extraction is done. I feel that it is not necessary. Also I have to do
few fillings. Is it necessary to take antibiotics prior to fillings
too.

thanks

If you need to be on antibiotics after extraction, it is not because of
your heart murmur.  AHA recommendations do not call for postop antibiotics.
If fillings are expected to cause bleeding, preop antibiotics are
recommended as well.
