Does anyone know about mucoceles on the lower lip or is that not a
dentist type thing?  How long off work after it's removed I'm
wondering... one day, two days?

No big whoop.  Unless you're in public speaking (your lip will be numb
for a couple of hours) you shouldn't need any time off from work.  Also,
you'll want to avoid stuff like lemon in your tea for a couple of days
(ouch).  There may be a stitch or two to have removed a week later.

They will inject LA round the mucocele, make an eleptical incision, and lift
it out with some minor salivary glands.
They will then suture it up, make sure there is haemostasis.

You probably will be reviewed in a weeks time.

No need to take time off work. Your lip will be a bit numb, so just make
sure you dont bite it or burn it with hot food/ drink.

Use an antiseptic mouthwash to keep the bugs at bay and prevent the site
from being infected. The site may feel sore for a couple of days.

It is more fun when you get it out in one piece without rupturing it.
Pathologists get a woody with that stuff. Allright, so do I.....

Double damn!

There's a bit of travelling to the hospital that's doing it so at
least I'll get the afternoon off.

Yes, I've been there done that last time.  I had tissue taken for
grafting from inside the lower lip and the mucocele is the result.
It's deep so I'm expecting it to hurt a bit.  I got no infection last
time but I put that down to the constant bathing in gin that it got!

Thanks guys!

It's better to fill the mucocoele with an impression material (inject),
then dissect it out.

That sounds very cool--have you done it?  What kind of needle do you use?

Yes I have, used alginate in a 22 ga. needle. (IIRC, could have been a 20 ga.)
Get the syringe at the pharmacy.

Now I would use light body addition silicone.

One or two days sounds about right.

There is a tendency to recur.
