On the boxes that my latex exam gloves come it, it reads:
"100 gloves by WEIGHT"

What's THAT about?

Whose side are you on?  I may pay for 250 gms. of gloves--that's by
weight.  Or I may pay for 100 gloves--by count.
I don't accept payment in dollars by weight either, btw.

You could count them, and if they are consistently below listed #'s complain to
your dealer and post the offending manufacturer here. Most times my boxes are
jammed so full that you have to struggle to get the first dozen or so out.

I just bought a case of a house brand manufactured by Hedy. Won't use them
again. They are loaded with flaws and tear very easily.

I haven't counted, but wouldn't be shocked to find an undercount.  I
use Dash powder-free, they fit me well.  I have used other brands that
also count by weight.

Then you will pay much more for that box of gloves to cover the
salaries of the poor bastards that have to sit there and count them.

Law of averages says that sometimes you get 98 sometimes 103.

Take a brand new unopened box of gloves and sit there and count them.
Time yourself.

They wouldn't be counting gloves out of the box.  In fact, I'd bet it's
all mechanized.
After all, ATMs don't spit out $100 by weight.
I may just count a few boxes, and see if there is a true average.

They weigh a bunch of gloves separately to arrive at a statistical average weight per glove.

Multiply by 100 and there you go.

You didn't really think someone was counting them did you ?

Silly me.  I wouldn't complain if they were selling a pound of gloves.
If they say 100 gloves, I think there should be 100 gloves.  Call me
old fashioned.

Yeah, I agree they should be consistent. The should at least say
something like "average box count of 100 based upon average glove
weight."

That would be more accurate than just saying "100 gloves" if there is a
good chance that the box doesn't really contain 100 gloves.

Of course, if they want to cover themselves by placing 105 gloves in
every box of 100, I wouldn't complain.

Then they could send boxes with one big huge 250g glove in each and
they'd be fine...
