The ist of 2 appts. I had to cxl was bcs of a blizzard and everyone in
our County including her) was instructed to stay off the roads.....The
2nd I cxld 3 or 4 days before Heart surgery..which was 6 days beforethe
appt.
When I saw her, I did ask if I could pay for the missed appts.. pay in
advance.. or do anything to remain her patient...
She said "Nope". and that the x-ray showed there was no leakage or
infection..But she prescribed 800mg Morin for pain, Clindamycin "in
case".. and looked very depressed.. She'd recently had a baby.(who was
being fed in the waiting room by the Receptionist..). maybe it's
Post-Partum an she doesn't intend to practice very long..
I figure everything happens for the best... and I'll just find someone
with more experience and "Chairside Manner"
and, if the X-ray shows the filling's ok and there's no infection I can
relax, right?.

That is entirely reasonable, yes.

I think you may have something there: if she is not reasonable about
re-inserting you into the practice after you demonstrate 'good faith',
then SHE is the problem at this point.

At least, now you know what you're looking for. A bit of hunting by
phone will give you an idea of what the team is like. You may even ask
the secretary to describe the type of dentist her boss is, and perhaps
ask to interview the dentist by phone. It only takes a few minutes. I
have had this done to me many times: The patient will phone with some
specific ailment or other, and she describes the thing, and then just
sits back and lets me talk. What they really want is to evaluate the
dentist, or they would already be at the front desk for a walk-in
appointment. That's OK. It takes me all of four minutes to establish
rapport with the lady or not. If it doesn't click, we both move on. I
don't mind this a bit, but my secretary HATES it. I don't know why: the
lady wants to establish a contact and see how it feels. You can do the
same. Just be sure to suggest that the dentist call you back when the
rush is off. Otherwise, the secretary will try to protect the schedule
and not let the dentist know until s/he is ready to leave for the day.

For now, yes. The tooth may act up farther down the road, but only the
gods can know that.
