Do at home teeth whiteners work?

I am 60 years old and my teeth are pretty dull.  Slightly gray and also
somewhat yellow.  Unfortunately my front teeth are large so it would be
nice if they were more attractive.

Do the at home whiteners work?  The color of my teeth has nothing to do
with dental hygiene.  I had gum surgery about 20 years ago and since
then I am meticulous about cleaning my teeth and gums (brush, floss,
rubber tip, proxy brush).  I also have my teeth cleaned by my dentist
every three months.

These whiteners are quite expensive so I'd rather not waste my money if
possible.  Also, are they safe?

Thanks

REPLY

Yes, the chemicals are key and they
are in many cases, what the dentist uses.

Good for you!
That is wise.

I agree, but let your dentist check your teeth. Fillings, crowns etc
can't be whitened. It would be no good idea to bleech your teeth and
have the rest in dark color.
Since your are of some age i assume there could be some fillings in place.

Probelm in the US is that in-office whitening,
say Zoom is $500-$800 while take home
whitening is still $200-$300.

Vanna White is fifty bucks at Sam's Club.
