To splint teeth means to tie them together for mutual support--usually
by means of crowns that are attached to each other. It can also be
accomplished by wiring or making restorations that one way or another
bridge from one tooth to another.

SPLINT .... like putting your leg into a splint ........
LOCKS together the teeth as with a picket fence,
so each picket will not weaken and fall down (fall out).
