My crown of three years came out today, and it had a perfectly LONG
steel post in it. Obviously this tooth has a root canal. What can I
expect to be done? Is my root canal in jeopardy it would seem so.
Obviously I need a new crown. This is the second bad one for this tooth
and it is NOT a molar so one back from front right canine.

Wondering what to expect and has anyone heard of a post coming out?
Seems odd to me. It is sensitive but not overly so with some softened
wax in the cavity. Cement is still stuck to the tooth that's left. Any
help appreciated thank you as i dont have insurance and need to pay
cash and am concerned.

Fourth bad crown and/or root canal from dentist, all showing up over a
year from originally done. Going back to the one who did it is not an
option, and i am out of state anyway.

Erm, aren't there only 2 roots in that tooth?  lol I think you used up both
lol

Come out all the time due to incompetent tooth grinders.

Wax? Egad!

Cement is still stuck to the tooth that's left.

The tooth jockey should replace it free. Once is happenstance, Twice is
coincidence, Three Times is enemy action. Sue Sue Sue

He/she's a quack. Out of State? No problemo. Sue in Federal Court :o)  Even
better and easier, file a claim with the quack's insurance company.

I would venture a *guess* that there is not much tooth structure left out of
gum tissues.  If this is so, then it would not take much lateral force to
"roll" the crown and post off the root.  If this really is the case, you get
to decide if you can put up with it coming off every year or three and
getting by for a while longer, or do you want to try a bigger post and see
if you get more life out of it, or give up and have the root out and replace
it with an implant.

If (that is a big if from an internet description), I am right, you need to
control all clenching while sleeping (we like the NTI device for this), and
understand that this tooth is going to fail in the weakest portion.  If the
post is made too big and strong, it will break the root when it fails.
Right now, it might just break the cement seal and pop loose.

Some of these come loose because the root is fractured.  These teeth get
extracted.

You might be the victim of bad dentistry, or you might be the recipient of
heroic dentistry trying to make the best out of a virtually hopeless
situation.  Again, I cannot judge from my desk.
