Implant and Restorative Work following it

I have a tooth implant (lower right molar - last tooth.) Today I went
to my regular dentist to finally be fitted for a crown. He shocked me
when he said, "A crown will not fit there. There is no clearance for a
tooth". I asked him what the solution was. After conferring by phone
with my periodontist, he said I need to see a restoration expert. And
that fitting a crown on the bottom - would require them altering my top
(healthy) tooth above it; shortening and crowning that too.

There has never been any mention before this of any work needed for
adjoining teeth. Had there been, I wouldn't have agreed to this implant
to begin with.  I'm wondering if the periodontist incorrectly placed my
implant?  I don't feel good about altering my otherwise healthy top
molar.... Your opinions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Radiographs would be helpful as well as some clinical photos.

Thanks,

Flap

Hi Flap.  Thanks for trying to assist me. At the present time, I don't
have copies of my radiographs or clinical photos...

I took my first implant course over 20 years ago from the Swedish
orthopedic surgeon who developed the "Osseointegration" concept that nearly
all implant systems now use.  That doesn't make me smarter than anyone
else, but I have been at it for awhile.

I understand your consternation; sure sounds like PPPP to me (piss-poor
prior planning).  Just like Flap said: we need a lot more info.

Geez, and I thought I was old!

er, I mean "mature".

I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Linkow long ago at a Greater NY meeting.
A rather remarkable man.  Allen Brewer introduced me - did you know him, by
any chance, Joel?

Actually I am quite a bit younger than I am supposed to
be ... but that was because I was sick for two years .......

A classmate of mine (Larry Ashkenazi) married Lenny Linkow's daughter.
 Linkow really was a cowboy!
